Pistorius under house arrest after being released

London, Oct.20 : Convicted Paralympics runner Oscar Pistorius has been released on parole and put under house arrest at his uncle’s house after serving almost a year in prison for killing his girlfriend.

According to the Guardian, Pistorius family spokesperson Anneliese Burgess had confirmed that the double-amputee athlete was at his uncle Arnold’s house in Pretoria.

Pistorius was sentenced to a five-year jail in 2014 after being found guilty of culpable homicide of his girlfriend , Reeva Steenkamp.

Meanwhile, prosecutors are calling on a panel of judges at the country’s Supreme Court to overrule a decision by another judge to acquit Pistorius of murder charges. A state appeal against Pistorius’ murder acquittal will be heard in November.

If prosecutors succeed in their appeal against the culpable homicide conviction in the Supreme Court of Appeal and have it upgraded to murder, Pistorius would face a minimum of 15 years in jail. (ANI)
