Persistent rain washes out third day of Bangalore Test

Bengaluru: Rain continued to dampen the second Test between India and South Africa as bad weather washed out the entire third day’s play here on Monday.

Due to continuous drizzling and wet outfield, the umpires had taken an early decision to suspend the play till lunch after the second day’s play was also called off without a ball being bowled at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Earlier on Day one, replying to South Africa’s first innings score of 214, Indian openers had put the hosts in a commanding 80-0 at stumps.

Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan will resume the innings on their respective unbeaten score 28 and 45 on the fourth day although the weather forecast is casting a cloud of doubt over the possibility of a result.

India are leading the four-match series 1-0 after defeating the tourists by 108 runs in Mohali Test match. (ANI)
