People demanding Ram temple in Ayodhya are home-grown terrorists: BSP leader

Lucknow: The BJP on Wednesday took offence to Bahujan Samaj Party leader Swamy Prasad Maurya’s comment that people demanding a Ram temple in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh are home-grown terrorists.

The matter is before the Supreme Court and so anyone talking about it is no less than a “desi aatankwadi”, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader has said.

Vijay Bahadur Pathak, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s state unit spokesman, said the remark was a humiliation to Hindus.

“In the past too Maurya has been involved and in fact has been dragged to the court for his inflammatory remarks against Hindu deities,” Pathak said.

Maurya, leader of opposition in the state assembly and a close confidante of former chief minister Mayawati, on Tuesday alleged that there was a “secret deal” between the BJP and the ruling Samajwadi Party.
