Pak police recover 9,000 bullets from parked car

Police claimed to have recovered a huge cache of thousands of bullets from a parked vehicle in Pakistan’s biggest and most volatile city.

Central Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muqaddas Haider said the police had combed the car which was parked in the Nazimabad area for the last two days after residents reported it to the police station yesterday.

It appears as if the car was transferring ammunition to an unknown location but maybe due to mechanical reasons or for some other purpose was left parked there, he said.

Residents saw boxes inside the vehicle and police summoned the bomb disposal squad to scan the car for explosives. More than 9,000 bullets were recovered from the car which appear to be of use in G3 rifles.

The number plate on the car is a fake and police are trying to locate its owner.
