Pak market blast: 23 killed, LeJ claims responsibility

Karachi: Terror group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi ( LeJ) has claimed responsibility for the blast at Parachinar clothes market in Pakistan that killed at least 23 people on Sunday.

According to ARY News, Ali Bin Sufiyan, the alleged spokesperson for the group stated that the blast was in response to the Shia support of Iran and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Sufiyan warned Shias to refrain from participating in Assad’s war and said that they would carry out more such attacks if they did not stop it.

The Kurram tribal district where the attack took place is known for sectarian clashes between Sunnis and Shia.

Shias make up roughly 20 percent of Pakistan’s population of 200 million. (ANI)
