Pak FO confirms arrest of anchor Pirzada in Abu Dhabi

Karachi, Aug. 7 : Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Friday confirmed that television anchor and commentator Moeed Pirzada has been under arrest since August 4 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

An Express Tribune report quoted the spokesman of the foreign office, as saying that the Pakistan Embassy in the UAE has been asked to contact the relevant authorities on the matter, as also to provide Mr. Pirzada with all possible assistance.

The spokesperson said the reason for Mr. Pirzada’s arrest was yet to be ascertained, but Twitter was abuzz with news that Pirzada had been arrested for “forging property documents.”
