Pak flag hoisted on J&K CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s ancestral home

Srinagar: A Pakistani flag was on Tuesday hoisted on the ancestral house of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Bijbehara area, the hometown of three Hizbul Mujahideen militants killed in an encounter on Monday.

The ‘Green and White’ flag was hoisted on the ancestral home of Sayeed in Bijbehara as hundreds of residents were marching in the funeral procession of one of the militants, eyewitnesses said.

Police officials refused to comment on the incident.

However, PDP leader Waheed Parra said the flag was not hosted on Sayeed’s house but on the periphery of the compound.

“Not much should be read into this isolated incident. Hoisting flags has become a fashion and it is because of social media that such isolated incidents get so much attention,” Parra, who is Political Analyst to the Chief Minister, said.

Three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Ashmuqam area of Anantnag district yesterday.

The slain militants were all residents of Bijbehara, the ancestral hometown of the Chief Minister.
