Pak army chief vows to end drug dealer, terrorist nexus

Islamabad, Aug.3 : The nexus between drug dealers and terrorists will be broken in a firm and aggressive manner, said Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif, on Monday.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), and reported by the Dawn, the General Raheel Sharif said on Monday that the nexus between drug dealers, financiers and perpetrators of terrorism will be broken.

He issued the statement while on a visit to the Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) headquarters here.

According to the statement, General Sharif was given a detailed briefing on various aspects of the ANF’s counter drug smuggling operations by its Director General, Major General Khawar Hanif.

General Sharif said drug peddlers and those involved in its production are as detrimental to national security as terrorists.

He expressed his appreciation of the ANF’s endeavors that saw a record number of drug seizures in 2014 and 2015. (ANI)
