Owaisi pushing India for another division: Najma Heptullah

Union Ministry of Minority Affairs Najma Heptullah has accused MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi of pushing the country for another division by pursuing his communal politics.

Addressing the BJP Minority Morcha workers here on Monday, Najma Heptullah said that the MIM activities were encouraging anti-national and divisive forces. She said both Mohammed Ali Jinnah and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru were responsible for partition of India in 1947. Similarly, Asaduddin Owaisi was executing his communal agenda. She asked the BJP cadre to oppose MIM’s politics by emulating Moulana Abul Kalaam Azad who opposed creation of Pakistan. She also slammed a section of media for promoting MIM and Asaduddin Owaisi.

Najma Heptullah also denied reports that Asaduddin Owaisi had a secret meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said Modi does not support any communal forces and therefore, there was no question of him meeting Owaisi.

The meeting was presided by Telangana BJP Minority Morcha president Syed Haneef Ali.

Addressing a press conference later, Najma Heptullah said that the BJP was committed towards the development of minorities, especially Muslims. She said six out of eight points in the BJP’s manifesto were meant for the upliftment of minorities. She also listed out other welfare schemes being implemented by the BJP-led NDA Government for the minorities’ welfare. She also ridiculed the ‘Deen Bachao, Dastoor Bachao’ campaign launched by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and asked the members to do something practical for the growth and development of the community.

The Union Minister declined to comment when asked for reaction on TRS Government’s promise to provide 12% reservation for Muslims in jobs and education. (INN)
