Over 40,000 Acres Wakf land in AP under encroachment: Minister

Andhra Pradesh Minorities Welfare Minister P Raghunath Reddy on Wednesday revealed that of 60,700 Acres of Wakf land in Andhra Pradesh, over 40,000 Acres are under encroachment.

Speaking to media persons here, the minister said efforts were being made to remove the encroachments. As per GO 18, the State Government is trying to regain control over encroached Wakf properties.

The minister said that the AP Government was committed to the welfare of minorities in the State. He said the Muslim minorities were provided with a special Ramzan package during the holy month. The government is also providing financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 for the marriages of poor Muslim girls. A Shaadi Manzil is also being constructed in Nellore, he said. (INN)
