OU to set up CCTV cameras, students oppose

With a view to curb unlawful activities, Osmania University authorities have decided to install 500 closed circuit TV cameras (CCTVs) on the campus and constituent colleges.

It must be noted that University Grants Commission had issued a circular to install CCTVs a few months ago. These surveillance cameras will come up at key places like colleges, departments, mess and hostels, playgrounds and on the university roads, to monitor the activities of the students from January 2016.

However, some students have opposed setting up of surveillance cameras and demanded that the administration should make arrangements for better boarding and lodging and clean water at the first place.
