Oldest Muezzin at Makkah Haram passed away

Makkah: Sheikh Muhammad Siraj Maaroof, one of the senior Muezzins at the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah passed away on Friday.

According to the local media report, he passed away after a prolonged illness. He had been suffering from lung disease. He was buried at Al-Muallah Cemetery in Makkah after funeral prayers at the Masjid Al-Haram on Saturday. Chief Muezzin of the Makkah Grand Mosque, Ali Mullah expressed deep sorrow over his death.

Ali Mullah also said that Maaroof had inherited this noble profession from his father and grandfathers and was one of the oldest Muezzins in the Grand Mosque.
