Washington D.C.: She might play a tech-savvy Apple executive in her movies, but in real life Kate Winslet has banned social media in her house to protect her kids from the negative effects of technology.
The 40-year-old actress said in a recent interview that she believes social media leads to self-esteem issues, which could cause even more serious problems down the line, reports Us magazine.
The mother of three added that when a young girl shares a selfie, she’s thinking about what some other person thinks who she doesn’t even know and this creates a huge impact on her self esteem.
Winslet revealed that she limits internet time at home and tries to emphasise the importance of real human interaction.
Claiming that one needs to be in touch with their kids, the ‘Titanic’ star said that she thinks parents are losing control and it is really hard to keep a finger on the pulse.
