No building more suitable than OGH for recovery of patients: Dr. Sudhir Naik

Osmania General Hospital is prominent among the heritage structures of the city. The hospital building has been treating thousand of patients every day for nearly 91 years. Asif Jahi rules built the building in 1846 and established Nizam Medical School to prepare allopathic doctors. Today the world knows it as Osmania Medical College.

Chief Minister Mr. K Chandrasekhar Rao who was never tired of praising Asif Jahi rulers has announced to dismantle old building of Osmania Hospital and built two skyscrapers on the place.

Opposing the move, Cardiologist Dr. Sudhir Naik who spent a major part of his career in Osmania General Hospital told that this decision of chief minister is not appropriate. The products of this hospital are welcome in the country and abroad. Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan got the structure built by the British Architect who prepared a design which is quit suitable from medical and health point of view. Garden spread over several acres was built so that patients can get fresh air. The building is fully ventilated. The big wards, high tombs, large halls and open corridors all were built keeping in view the health of patients.
