The Uttar Pradesh Police today rejected the reports that some youths of Azamgarh have links with terror outfit IS.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Prashant Kumar told reporters that he has not received any intelligence input of youth from Azamgarh having links with ISIS. “It was creation of media, which was giving misleading reports with no reality in it,” the officer said.
The DIG also expressed his displeasure over Azamgarh being termed as a “nursery of terrorism,” and said that it was land of people like Kaifi Azmi and Rahul Sanaskratayan.
“A few youths may get misled, but defaming the entire district was not right,” Kumar said as he asked to name a district where criminal incidents do not take place or where criminals were not there.
Following reports of death of Sanjarpur village resident Mohammad Sajid in Syria allegedly while fighting for ISIS, reports of other youths having links with the terror outfit were doing rounds.
