Nine killed in road mishaps in T districts

Nine persons were killed in road accidents in various parts of the Telangana State on Tuesday. While three persons died in Nalgonda district, the fatal accidents claimed two lives each in Adilabad, Mahbubnagar and Warangal districts.

In Nalgonda district, two motor mechanics died on the spot when a speeding lorry dashed against a stationary lorry at Yethirajapuram village under Mellacheruvu mandal of the district. The victims were repairing the stationary lorry when the mishap occurred.

In another accident in the district, a 35-year old Sireesha of Penuganchiprolu village of Krishna district was killed on the spot and 13 others suffered grievous injuries when the APSRTC bus in which they were traveling dashed against a stationary private bus on the outskirts of Veliminedu village under Chityal mandal of Nalgonda district in the early hours. While the injured were rushed to the Kamineni hospital at Narketpally, body of Sireesha was shifted to Ramannapet Government Hospital mortuary. The ill-fated RTC bus of Ibrahimpatnam depot of Krishna district was proceeding to Vijayawada from Hyderabad, Chityala police sub-inspector Venkateshwarlu said.

In Adilabad district, two youths died on the spot when their bikes collided head-on at Nazrul Nagar under Khagaznagar mandal in the district on Monday night. The deceased were identified as Devasesh Roy, 23, of Village No. 7 and Prasanjit, 22, of Maharashtra State. Another injured youth Gnanadeva Roy was admitted to a private hospital.

Izgam police sub-inspector M Sivakumar visited the accident spot and registered a case.

In Mahbubnagar district, lorry driver Haji, 40, died on the spot when the vehicle proceeding to Kalwakurthi from Hyderabad overturned near Cherukuru bus stage on the Hyderabad-Srisailam National Highway in Veldanda mandal.

In another accident in the district, 30-year old Aruna died on the spot and Anand and Venkatamma suffered grievous injuries. The victims belonging to Achampet were traveling on a bike when a Bolero coming from opposite direction hit the bike near Kotra bus stage under Veldanda mandal on the Hyderabad-Srisailam National Highway. The injured were admitted to Kalwakurthy government hospital.

In Warangal district, two youths died on the spot when a lorry dashed against their bike at Kothagattu Singaram village under Shayampet mandal in the district on Tuesday morning. The victims were identified as Munukuntla Kiran, 28, of Bhupalapalli and Premsagar of Mandaripet. On receipt of the information, Parakala DSP Sanjeeva Rao visited the spot and registered a case.

It is learnt that the driver of the lorry, in order to avoid hitting an RTC bus coming from opposite direction, hit the bike killing the two on the spot. (NSS)
