New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to Delhi Education Secretary and Deputy Commissioner of Police of South zone over an incident of sodomy in a government school.
The Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that three students severely beat and sodomised a fellow student in the backyard of their school in Fatehpur Beri, South Delhi on September 2.
The alleged perpetrators and the victim were the students of 9th class in the government run school in the area. Medical examination of the victim also confirmed the incident.
“The contents of the press report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim,” observed the Commission.
Accordingly, notices have been issued to the Secretary, Department of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi and DCP, South Delhi calling for reports within two weeks.
