New policy to curb online film piracy soon: KTR

Cine producer D. Suresh Babu today said some 200 websites were indulging in film piracy resulting in the huge loss of Rs 350 crore to the Telugu film industry.

A delegation of producers from Telugu film industry today called on IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao and urged him to tackle the problem of online piracy of films. Suresh Babu told mediapersons later that KTR assured them that a new policy would be taken to curb the menace of film piracy. Police, Internet providers, film industry personalities can unitedly curb the piracy business, he added.

Suresh Babu said awards would be given to those who help seize CDs of pirated films. The IT minister held a review meeting on film piracy today, which discussed how to prevent film piracy effectively. Internet providers, police officials and film industry representatives attended the meeting. (NSS)
