Kolkata: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said a new chapter has begun in the state after the PDP-BJP government came into power.

“Our alliance is not a political one or an ideological one, but that of governance… A new chapter has now begun in Jammu and Kashmir,” Singh said at a book release event here.

He said the atmosphere created by separatist forces and terrorists in the state was now changing.

“Some infiltrators had come during the Amarnath Yatra, but none of them could succeed,” he said adding, there was a new environment in the state now.

Lauding the role of late freedom fighter Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, he said his contribution to Kashmir was the turning point in the history of the state.
