Our team is the WAN Operations team within the Azure. This team provides the backbone network support for Microsoft’s online services. We have a well- deserved reputation for providing industry leading operations engineering across multiple data centers on a best of class, global backbone. The successful candidate will directly influence our top priority of highly reliable Online Services. In an always on, always connected world, this role provides a unique opportunity to work on a breadth of technologies found in very few other networking opportunities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Site Up and Network performance is our core imperative. This position provides network incident response and remediation for ongoing incidents which are actively impacting online services. The team owns the automation solution development for efficient incident and problem management. This type of SWAT team is a key requirement for highly reliable Online Services where availability must be absolutely optimized. A successful Service Engineer will analyze, triage, and repair network issues actively impacting software services availability.

Core responsibilities of this job will include:

Incident Management

? Rapid

Immediate mitigation of network impact and restoration of service.

Investigation and deep dive analysis of root cause for outages.

? Implementation of repair items and recommendations for proactive improvement of the network

Network Migrations

? Executing the design and architectural changes in the network related to network optimization, hardware replacements

Automation

? Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code for automation of incident management and network migrations

Documentation

? Detailed documentation of incidents with details for post incident reviews and analysis.

? Creating and maintaining operational documentation such as TSGs, Standard Operating Procedures, and any needed post incident review details

This role interacts closely with our engineering, infrastructure support teams, tools and NMS/OSS teams and is in the escalation path to other teams like engineering, architecture, and the Core/backbone teams.

Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to troubleshoot and triage complicated networking incidents ranging from physical layer issues up to load balancing problems at layer 4 in the networking stack. He/she should have a strong understanding of the service provider networks along with internet engineering. The person in this role must have a strong working and troubleshooting knowledge of IP/MPLS networks, layer 4 session troubleshooting over TCP, routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP and MPLS. These skills must be applied across a variety of networking platforms including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper and arista. ? A good understanding of the SDN environment would be the added advantage.

In addition to networking skills, he should have good development knowledge for network automation for incident management and service migrations. The successful candidate must be highly effective in written and oral communications with a set of partners located around the globe. Our network provides connectivity to a very large number of online services requiring the successful candidate to be a strong collaborator, attentive listener, calm under pressure, and earn confidence from others. Candidates must have scripting experience with development experience a plus. Basic Qualifications:

7-9 years of network operations experience in an online services or internet service provider environment. This time must include Layer 2 analysis and troubleshooting TCP/IP routing, switching, traffic management and load balancing in a complex networking environment.

B. Tech, MCA or equivalent Degree

CCNA/CCNP/CCDP/JNCIP/JNCIS certified Scripting skills would be added advantage

Scripting experience in python, power-shell, or similar language. Experience with C# is a plus.
