We need to delink religion from terror: PM Modi

Expressing serious concern over the grave issue of terrorism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today emphasised the need to delink religion from terror.

Prime Minister Modi, who was addressing the Indian community here, said the only distinction that must be made is between those who believe in humanity and those who don’t.

“We must cooperate to combat this (terrorism). When I say the world must come together, it also means no country should promote terrorism. World must ensure that countries do not use or promote terrorism – no sanctuaries, no funds, no arms. We have to make sure Internet does not become a recruiting ground,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi also highlighted India’s bilateral security partnership with Malaysia and said that both sides worked closely to keep the citizens safe.

“We have strong defence relations. The Indian Air Force helped train their partners in Malaysian Air Force for two years. We exercise together in air and on land and sea. Our security agencies work together against terrorism. I want to thank the Malaysian Government for our strong security cooperation,” he said. (ANI)
