Need to concentrate on Primary Healthcare

Hyderabad : Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao, former Director of NIMS stressed the need to concentrate on Primary Healthcare. He was addressing the inaugural function of 10th batch of PG Diploma in Hospital Management at the Administrative Staff College of India yesterday. He said that Govt. and corporate sector are paying more attention on Tertiary Healthcare. As a result of which Primary Healthcare Centers have been reduced to First Aid Centers. In Tertiary Healthcare only 8-10 ailments are cured whereas other diseases are cured in primary healthcare sector which needs to be improved. He applauded the services rendered by corporate hospital in the field of Tertiary Healthcare but when the question of Primary Healthcare comes, the situation is not good. We brought about Green Revolution and revolutions in other fields but there is no revolution in Healthcare management which is deplorable.
