A speeding truck ran over a girl near Rail Nilayam on Tuesday morning. 19-year-old B Swapna, an NCC Cadet of the Railway Degree College and a second year BSc student, was on her way to an Independence Day parade rehearsal at the Railway Recreation Club grounds when the truck rammed her. She died on the spot.

According to her father, Johnaiah the girl was selected for Independence Day celebrations and being the first day of practice, she was excited and wanted to reach the place on time.
