Naidu launches 5k run for new capital city

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today launched “5k Run for new capital city” which was organized by the Journalists Forum here. Besides Chandrababu Naidu, a large number of youth and students participated in the run.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the foundation laying ceremony for the new capital “Amaravathi” should be celebrated as a festival. Since the foundation laying ceremony is coinciding with the Dasara (Vijaya Dashami) festival on October 22, it should be celebrated in a festive atmosphere, he said.

The Chief Minister criticized those who were approaching the courts claiming that foundation laying ceremony would create environmental hazard. It was unfortunate, Naidu added. He clarified that he would be the first person to protect the environment.
