Muslim cabby fined $350 for not allowing short skirt, drunk woman up front

A Muslim cab diver Tamsir Drammeh claims that Islam forbids him from being close to a female stranger and refused to let a woman sit in front with him as her family piled into his cab.

However, a city judge didn’t accept his argument and fined the driver with a $350 for his discrimination according to a report published in New York Times.

A fellow Muslim driver said there is no such rule in Islam, “Maybe if she was drunk and wearing a skirt hiked up to the tops of his thighs. “He wouldn’t have her in the front, but only if she is alone.”

The NYpost report says that the 64 year old Tamsir Drammeh was at a taxi stand on Eighth Avenue when the family of four walked up. The husband and kids got into the back, and the mom went to the front passenger door, which Drammeh refused to unlock.

The family took a photo of Drammeh’s medallion number and hailed a different cab.

The wife filed a complaint alleging sex discrimination, and Drammeh lost the case twice — once in a regular city hearing and again on appeal.

The hearing’s judge, Laura Fieber, told the cabby he needs to keep his religion to himself when serving the public.
