Murray hoping to emulate Djokovic post Davis Cup triumph

Johannesburg: World number two Andy Murray has expressed that he is hoping to emulate top-ranked Novak Djokovic’s winning streak after inspiring Britain to its first Davis Cup victory in 79 years.

Murray overcame David Goffin of Belgium in straight sets to add the Davis Cup to his other major titles at Wimbledon, the US Open and the Olympic Games.

Djokovic produced one of the greatest years in tennis history after guiding Serbia to its first Davis Cup victory in 2010. He went on to achieve the numero uno spot and won 10 tournaments next year, including three Grand Slams at the US and Australian Open and at Wimbledon.

Aiming to emulate Djokovic’s streak of success, Murray said that the Serbian made the dietary changes in the close season as well with the gluten-free diet and insisted that he would try as much as he could for next year, Sport24 reported.

The two-time Grand Slam champion also admitted that the Davis Cup win was a great way to end the year, adding that it would give him boost for the next season. (ANI)
