Mukherjee, Ansari wish nation on Eid-ul-Zuha

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari on Thursday greeted the nation on Eid-ul-Zuha.

Mukherjee, in a message, said: “On the occasion of Idu’l Zuha, I extend greetings and good wishes to all my Muslim brothers and sisters in India and abroad.”

“Let this festival be an occasion to share our happiness and resources with those lesser privileged, suffering and in need. May Idu’l Zuha bring all the communities and regions of India together in a celebration of our composite civilization.”

Ansari said the festival symbolises the spirit of sacrifice.

“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Zuha. Id-ul-Zuha symbolises the spirit of sacrifice, sympathy and brotherhood in society. The festival inspires mankind to inculcate values of truthfulness and compassion in their lives.”

“May this festival bring peace, harmony and prosperity in the nation,” he added.
