Jammu: The Mughal road, an alternative highway between Kashmir and Jammu regions, was made fully operational from vehicular traffic from today.

“The Mughal Road has been made fully operational from vehicular traffic from today after remaining closed for a couple of days due to heavy snowfall in the area”, Minster for R&B Department, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said.

Bukhari, who was personally monitoring the road clearance operation, said efforts would be made to keep this road open for extended period subject to favourable weather conditions.

This important and historic road link has become alternative to Srinagar-Jammu national highway and plays important role in keeping Kashmir valley connected with the rest of the country during closure of the national highway, he said.

The Minister appealed people and drivers to follow instructions of traffic department regarding the movement on the road.

He asked the authorities of Mughal road, traffic and district administrations of Shopian and Poonch districts for providing safe passage to people using this road link.
