MQM chief Altaf Hussain to observe hunger strike outside 10 Downing Street

Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has declared that he will observe a hunger strike outside the official residence of Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron, also commonly referred to as 10 Downing Street.

Wasay Jalil, party’s spokesperson in London, said, “We have chosen 10 Downing Street as the hunger strike venue,” reported The Express Tribune.

He said that more details about the protest would be released after the party gets permission from British authorities to hold the hunger strike, adding that party leaders would follow if Hussain observed the strike.

The development came after the MQM chief announced his decision to go on a hunger strike till death against the ‘exploitation of Muhajirs’.

In a statement issued by the party, Hussain had claimed that Pakistan’s federal and provincial governments, Army, Rangers and Police were involved in the ‘genocide’ of Muhajirs, both economically and physically. (ANI)
