Morocco, Spain in joint operation detain 10 over IS links

Moroccan and Spanish authorities have arrested 10 people suspected of recruiting and sending fighters to the Islamic State (IS) group, the Moroccan interior ministry announced Sunday.

In a joint operation, six people were arrested in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, while their four partners were nabbed in Toledo, Valencia, and the outskirts of Barcelona in Spain, the ministry said in a statement.

It revealed that one of the suspects is a former prisoner on charges of terrorism in Italy, and another is a Portuguese national, Xinhua news agency reported.

This operation comes a month after 14 IS recruiters were arrested, 13 in Morocco and one in Spain.
