Monsoon Session: Shiv Sena warns of ‘maha muqabla’ in Parliament

New Delhi: Stressing that all the constituents of the NDA are standing united, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Monday warned the opposition parties of a ‘maha muqabla’ in both houses of the Parliament.

“The opposition is not united, they are scattered, but today the entire NDA was united and standing with the government in the meeting,” Raut told ANI.

“We are all together, we will have a ‘ maha muqabla’ tomorrow in both the houses,” he added.

Earlier in the day, NDA leaders held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s official 7, Race Course Road residence.

Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and Ram Vilas Paswan were among those present at the meeting, besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah.

This latest meeting comes a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top brass met to discuss the party’s strategy for the Monsoon Session, which starts tomorrow.

The party leadership reportedly discussed the strategy for the session as opposition parties have closed their ranks against the government on various issues, including the Vyapam scam, Lalit Modi controversy and the Socio Economic and Caste Census.

While the BJP-led NDA commands a sizeable majority in the Lok Sabha, it lacks numbers in the Rajya Sabha where opposition holds the key to passage of important legislations, including Goods and Services Tax and Land bill. (ANI)
