Modi serious on development of Wakf properties: Najma Heptullah

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Heptullah said that Prime Minister Narender Modi was quite serious in development of Wakf properties.

Interacting with a delegation of Mutawallis (Caretakers of Wakf properties) at her office recently, the Union Minister said that the Central Government, especially the Prime Minister strongly advocates development of Wakf properties and their proper utilisation. According to sources, Najma Heptullah said that the Central Wakf Act would be strictly implemented to ensure that the properties are not misused or encroached upon. She also said that Modi wants to promote ‘Khankhahi Nizam’.

According to sources, an 18-member delegation, led by Syed Akbar Nizamuddin, chief of Jamia Nizamia and ex-member of Central Wakf Council, called on the Union Minister at New Delhi to complain that some IAS officials were misusing the Wakf Act to harass the Mutawallis. Najma Heptullah has reportedly assured to arrange their meeting with Narender Modi. (INN)
