Modi must be punished, he has cheated people: Ram Jethmalani

New Delhi: Noted lawyer Ram Jethmalani on Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having cheated the people of India and said that he must be punished.

Talking to ANI, the former Rajya Sabha member said that if he has to vote for somebody then he’ll vote for JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar’s government.

“If I’ve to, then I’ll vote for Nitish government as I want Modi to suffer defeat,” Jethmalani was quoted as saying by ANI.

Jethmalani had announced his break up with PM Modi in June, stating his “diminishing respect” for PM Modi has “ended”.

The expelled BJP MP, who had strongly supported PM Modi’s prime ministerial bid, had been opposed to the appointment of former CBDT chairman KV Chowdary as Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and had said he will now fight the government in Supreme Court after his appointment was cleared by President today.

“Now we shall fight out in the Supreme Court and the court of the people of India. My diminishing respect for you ends today,” Mr Jethmalani wrote in a letter to Modi.
