Modi to launch Accessible India Campaign on Dec. 3

New Delhi:: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch Accessible India Campaign on December 3 on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

He will also present National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Briefing the media here earlier today, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Lov Verma said, “The Accessible India Campaign is aimed at achieving universal accessibility for persons with disabilities.”

“He said the campaign will increase accessibility of buildings, transport system, and enhance usability of information and communication services for people with disabilities,” he added.

The first International Film Festival for Persons with Disabilities will commence in the national capital tomorrow.

The Secretary said the three-day festival will showcase cinema that will open people’s minds towards persons with disabilities.

A total of forty feature films, documentary films and short films on disabilities from various countries, including ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Margarita With A Straw’, will be screened in the festival. (ANI)
