Modi appeals for donation of organs

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to donate organs, and said it was the most vital donation one could think of.

“Organ donation can save valuable lives… I urge people to … make donations,” Modi said in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address to the nation.

“What could be a bigger donation than this?” Modi asked.

He said on November 27 – the International Organ Donation Day – many people, including dignitaries, participated in large numbers to advocate donation of organs.

“When an organ is transplanted in another (human) body, not only does the organ get a new life but also the body,” he added.
