Srinagar :In the wake of a row over beef at Kerala House in Delhi, controversial Independent MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid today said the Jammu and Kashmir government should introduce beef in the food menu at the J&K House in Delhi and in MLA hostels in Srinagar and Jammu.

The legislator, who had kicked up a major controversy by hosting a beef party at MLAs hostel here last month, referred to the incident at Kerala House in Delhi where some Delhi policemen went on Monday after PCR got a call about beef being served there, which led to a row.

He hailed the Kerala government for its “realistic and unbiased” stand on re-including beef in the food menu at the Kerala House.

In view of the Kerala government’s stand, Rashid said the Jammu and Kashmir government should “respect the sentiments of Muslim community” and introduce beef in food menu at J&K House in Delhi and in MLA hostels in Jammu and Srinagar.

The MLA, whose face was smeared with black ink by some Hindu activists in Delhi few days back over his beef party, was addressing a public meeting in Qamalabad area of Kupwara district.

He also asked the ruling PDP and opposition National Conference to “revisit their policies in the larger interests of Kashmiris so that the Centre stops taking them for granted”.
