Ministers participate in Haritha Haram programme at Warangal

Telangana Minister T. Harish Rao, Jogu Ramanna and T Padma Rao on Tuesday participated in the Haritha Haram programme in Narsampet Assembly segment of Warangal district wherein one lakh saplings were planted in one day.

Speaking to media persons after planting saplings at Timmapur village, Harish Rao claimed that the Narsampet has emerged as a role model in Mission Kakatiya due to the revival of tanks and lakes. He said as many as 1024 tanks and lakes have been revived at a cost of Rs. 419 crore in the first phase of Mission Kakatiya in Warangal district. He said all those tanks are now filled with water. He said that more number of tanks would be revived in the second phase.

Harish Rao slammed the opposition parties for dubbing Mission Kakatiya as “Commission Kakatiya”. He advised the opposition leaders to come out of their AC houses in Hyderabad to do a reality check on State Government’s claims.

Jogu Ramanna said that a total of 230 saplings would be planted across the State as part of Haritha Haram in the next four years. He said so far, nearly five crore trees have been planted in Warangal, Adilabad, Khammam and Karimnagar districts. He said these districts received more rainfall this year due to increase in green cover.

Padma Rao said toddy trees were being planted around the revived lakes and this was helping the toddy tappers. He said toddy and cheap liquor were being promoted to eradicate the menace of ‘gudamba’. (INN)
