MIM obstructed development in Old City: VHR

Rajya Sabha member and Congress senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao has alleged that the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen had always obstructed the development in the Old City of Hyderabad.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, VHR condemned MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for criticising Congress party during his speech at Darulsalaam on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. He said Asaduddin Owaisi’s speech was against the spirit of Milad-un-Nabi which conveys the message of peace and unity. Instead, Owaisi tried to create animosity among the people with his slogan of “Hyderabad for Hyderabadies”. He said MIM has grown manifold only because of Congress party and today, Asaduddin Owaisi is accusing Congress of supporting ‘goondaism’.

VHR said it was the then Congress Governments which gave Darulsalaam, medical, engineering and other colleges to MIM. However, the MIM leaders only minted money from those institutions and did not help the poor Muslims. He said unlike their father Salahuddin Owaisi, both Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi were quite opportunistic. He said Owaisi brothers have always obstructed the development of Old City by entering into a secret pact with the party-in-power.

The Congress MP said that the Congress party would field candidates in all municipal wards in the Old City and expose the failures of MIM.

VHR also alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has allotted Wakf land in Manikonda Jagir in Survey No. 71 for the construction of South India Gurudwara. He asked Deputy CM (Revenue) Mohammed Mahmood Ali to clarify whether or not the Manikonda Jagir land ownership was subjudice. (INN)
