MIM leaders getting richer, old city residents getting backward: M A Shabbir

Leader of Opposition in Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Shabbir Ali has alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was not serious in providing 12% reservations to Muslims. He claimed that Majlis and BJP were damaging Muslim interest. ‘MIM leaders are getting richer while old city residents are getting backward’, he said.

He asserted that Congress party would make Alair encounter its election issue in the ensuing bye elections. Mr. Shabbir was speaking at “Meet The Press” programme on “Telangana: Past, Present and Future” organised by Telangana Union of Working Journalist here on Monday. He reiterated that while the CM was not serious for implementing 12% Muslim reservations even after 17 months of coming to power, the Congress had fulfilled its promise of 4% reservations within 56 days.

He maintained that Sudhir Committee had no power to recommend 12% Muslim reservations, if Telangana government wanted to fulfill its promise it should form BC commission without further delay.
