Militants open fire during Eid-e-Milad

Srinagar: Militants today fired at a police team during a procession in connection with Eid-e-Milad festival in Anantnag, about 50 kms from here, injuring an officer and a constable.

The incident took place in Gooriwan where the police team was on routine law and order duty for the procession marking the birthday of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) , police said.

Sub Divisional Police Officer of Bijebehara Irshad Ahmad and a constable were injured in the firing, they said, adding both were shifted to a hospital here.

Further details of the incident are awaited, police said.
