A 12-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped by an elderly man at a village in Chauri area here, police said today.
According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s family, she was raped four days ago by 54-year-old Bachcha Yadav, belonging to the same village, Circle Officer Akhilesh Rai said.
The matter came to light yesterday when the villagers informed the police, he said adding that the girl has been sent for medical examination.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused, the CO said.
