Mcllroy says hard for Spieth to replicate glorious 2015 season

Johannesburg : World number three golfer Rory McIlroy has warned his rival Jordan Spieth that the ‘self-inflicted pressure’ will make it difficult for the American to repeat his successful 2015 campaign.

The 26-year-old believes that the 2016 season would be completely different for Spieth, pointing that it would be extremely hard to back up the stats he had scored this year, Sport24 reported.

Spieth bagged the world number one ranking after winning the U.S. Masters and U.S. Open back-to-back earlier this year. He also came close to winning the British Open and U.S. PGA Championship afterwards.

Meanwhile, McIlroy, who failed to defend both his British Open and PGA Championship crowns after missing the tournaments due to an ankle injury, finished his modest season by securing his third DP World Tour Championship in Dubai in four years.

The Northern Irish professional was also named as the European Tour Golfer of the Year for the third time in his last four seasons.

Reflecting on his year, McIlroy admitted that he had got his speed back in swing in Dubai, adding that he hopes to continue his present form in next year as well. (ANI)
