Police have registered an FIR after a man’s Facebook post claiming that his 13-year-old daughter has gone missing went viral in the city.

Sanjay Tiwari claimed that his daughter, a class IX student, was missing for the past five days but there was no response from the police.

Tiwari who works as a painter in Guba Garden area of Kalyanpur alleged that Sonu, son of his wife’s sister, has cajoled his daughter and taken her to some unknown location on September 7, police said.

He then posted on FB his photo and a banner detailing the girl’s personality requesting people to help him trace her.

The post went viral prompting police to register the FIR against Sonu who stays in Belhara village in Barabanki.

SP (Rural) Surendra Tiwari said the father was called to the police station last night and an FIR was registered against Sonu.

He said a police team is being sent to Barabanki to nab the accused. “We will be able to find the details after we interrogate the accused,” the SP said.
