Man mortgages wife for the loan of Rs. 30,000

Chandigarh: Sabir Ali, a migrant from Bihar who ran a tiffin service took a loan of Rs. 30, 000 from another migrant, Mohammed Golam by mortgaging his wife.

 

Mohammed Golam who was into the business of cotton processing and quilting used to have food prepared by Sabir’s wife, Salma. In January, when Sabir Ali needs money, he took loan from Mohammed Golam by mortgaging his wife Salma. Mohammed Golam took Salma to his home after lending loan to Sabir Ali. Golam and Sabir’s wife were living together until Golam was found death on 31st October.

 

Police arrested Sabir when they found the body of Golam. Sabir confessed that he and his wife killed Golam. He said that the dispute began three months ago when he went to Golam to get his wife by repaying the loan. He said “Although I paid Rs. 30, 000 as principal and Rs. 20, 000 as interest, Golam refused to let Salma go”.

 

Investigating Officer, DSP, Rajinder Kumar said that he and his wife killed Golam. Golam was first strangulated and then beaten to death. He also said that Sabir was also assisted by his friends Akhtar and Gaurav. Meanwhile, Police arrested Akhtar and Salma but failed to arrest Gaurav.
