Judge of Mahila Court A. Varaprasada Rao on Wednesday pronounced a sentence of 10 years rigorous imprisonment against a man who was arrested on charges of abetting suicide of his wife.
According to sources Nalla Appalaraju of Bhanojithota married G. Lavanya in 2006. But after the birth of two daughters, Appalaraju and his parents started harassing her for additional dowry. Unable to bear the continuous harassment Lavanya committed suicide on April 28, 2011. She was rushed to a hospital but later succumbed to the burns.
Lavanya’s mother lodged a complaint with the Gajuwaka police.
