Dadri: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was barred from visiting the Dadri lynching victim’s family on Saturday, questioned the police and the local administration on why he was stopped.
He also criticised the opposition for accusing him of ‘politicising’ the incident.
Dadri Police Superintendent Sanjay Singh, however, clarified that Kejriwal had been stopped from entering the village solely for security reasons and that the locals were getting agitated with the VIP and the media presence in the area.
“I’m being accused of doing politics. Yes, I am doing politics, but I’m doing politics of unity and love. They are doing politics of hatred,” Kejriwal tweeted.
He demanded an explanation as to why when Union Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi had been allowed to visit the victim’s family and not him.
“Then why me? I am most peace loving. Want to just meet Ikhlak’s family,” Kejriwal added in another tweet.
Replying to Kejriwal’s query, Singh said that due the agitation of locals against the media and VIP movement in the village, action had been taken keeping the chief minister’s safety in mind.
“The villagers want to be left alone to focus on their daily lives. Lots of women and children had taken to the streets earlier, which is why we stopped him (Kejriwal) from entering the village and rest in the guest house. We are concerned for his safety and apologise for any inconvenience cause to him,” Singh told the media.
Kejriwal was barred earlier today by the local administration from entering Bishada village, where a man had been lynched earlier over reports of possessing beef. (ANI)
