The Hussainsagar police here on Monday rescued two persons – a male and one female — while they were trying to commit suicide by jumping into the Lake.
During interrogation, Nalla Vinodkumar, 22, and Banoth Kumari, 19, said they worked at a kirana store near Monda market, Secunderabad since two years and fell in love with each other. A few days ago Kumari’s family came to know about their love affair and decided to get the girl married with her brother-in-law and fixed marriage date. As the parents of the both rejected their affair, they decided to end their lives by jumping into the Hussainsagar lake. They came to the Tankbund near Children’s Park at 10.30 pm on Monday and jumped into the lake. However, the patrol police noticed them and saved their lives with the help of a rope.
Inspector K. Sreedevi handed over Nalla Vinod to his parents by taking assurance that they would produce him before her on Tuesday at noon. Bhanoth Kumari was kept at Bansilalpet Children Home for the night. (NSS)
