‘Lord Of The Rings’ fans crowd-fund construction of real-life Minas Tirith

Friday, Los Angeles (US) :A group of architects and Lord of the Rings fans are raising funds to build a real-world Minas Tirith (also known as Minas Anor), the capital city of Gondor.

An IndieGoGo campaign has been set up to raise a whooping US $2.9 billion for Minas Tirith, the city which was seen in full in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Fans even have the option to become a Lord or Lady of the city by pledging £10,000, though the architects and engineers running the project promise that no one will be charged if they do not hit their goal.

However, twelve days into the 60-day campaign, the project has raised a little over £16,000. If the Minas Tirith campaign succeeds, it would become the biggest crowd-funding project.

The fans plan to start building the project in 2016 and hopefully complete it by 2023.
