Listen to Modi and Rajnath, not Sakshi Maharaj, says Gadkari

New Delhi: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday urged the people to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh and not to BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj, who in the past made statements that led to controversies.

“Listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, not Sakshi Maharaj as people like him don’t represent the views of the government,” the union minister for road, transport and highways said at a discussion at Agenda Aajtak 2015.

Gadkari also hit out at the vote bank politics of the opposition.

“A fear psychosis is being built among the minorities in the country to tarnish the image of Modi,” he said.

Taking a dig at the Congress for stalling parliament proceedings on the National Herald case, he said, “Opposition stalls parliament proceedings and stalls development of the country.”

“They are stalling the proceedings of the house over a issue that is related to court. Neither parliament nor the government can do anything in this matter. Their behaviour is like demanding my resignation for an accident in the UK,” he said.

Congress leader Ashwini Kumar, who was present at the discussion, said: “Don’t connect our protest with the Goods and Service Tax Bill. It was our bill and we have certain objections. As far as disruption of parliament is concerned, parliament is the biggest forum where a political party can present the public viewpoint and we are performing our duty.”
