Leaders of Madhesi morcha to meet top Indian leaders

Patna/ Birgunj: With the standoff between the Nepal Government and Madhesi protesters refusing to die down, Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP) president Rajendra Mahato on Saturday said four leaders of Madhesi morcha, including Mahato, would be meeting top Indian leaders and representatives of the Government of Indian in Delhi to discuss how the relationship between the two nations can be improved.

He alleged that the Nepal Government was responsible for the prevailing instability in the Himalayan nation, as the Government had been ignoring Madhesi people’s demand.

“There is a lot of confusion regarding the Madhesi protest,” said Mahato, “We are protesting against the Nepal Government for our rights, and India has nothing to do with this.”

Meanwhile, schools, which were closed owing to the Madhesi agitation in Terai region, reopened after three months.

India had on Wednesday urged Nepal to find “urgent” solution to political problems facing the Himalayan nation, while clarifying that there is no hindrance to supplies from Indian side.

During a meeting between Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Swaraj said: “India has gone out of the way to ensure medical supplies to Nepal. India has always stood for a peaceful and prosperous Nepal, which is also in its interest.” (ANI)
